Due to the storms my internet coverage has been nil to nothing, but I did manage to get online thus the posts! In the last couple of days, the fig tree has really changed, and leafed out. It also now has baby figs! They are solid green, and I really hope that I can prevent the squirrels from eating them this year. Nothing is worse than going out to the fig tree, seeing it full of beautiful fruits, only to bring a bowl the next morning (so it would be fresh!) and seeing the fig tree stripped of it's beautiful ripe figs! That's what happened last fall. This year I am determained to keep the squirrels off the tree. I have some aluminum pie pans I plan to use in the "scare cow effect" to hang on the branches in hope that the pesky squirrels will leave my yummy fruit alone! I hope to make fig jam this year!
I started 50 broccoli plants inside, and they are growing quite well. I also have nearly 15 sunflower plants started. Next I will start tomato plants, around 25.
This gardening plan is getting exciting. I need to go ahead and dig my garden, and get some manure in here. It's going to be a beautiful summer, and we are going to enjoy all the yummy things!
