I learned about starfall.com which I heard about from sraikh. Thanks for sharing this site!
My girls LOVE it. Priya read several stories today (most of them are based on the same principals of the series of Bob Books, where learning to sound out and memorize words is key to learning to sight read).
I have three months to get them fully prepared for Kindergarten. I wish I was 100% homeschooling, but I will have to work part time. They will go to Kindergarten this year, and then I will think about moving them all to a private school next year.
Ravi will be in 3rd grade next year. This whole week they are taking the state wide accessment testing. I haven't said anything negative to Ravi about testing of this level (except, "do your best!") but I am highly against this type of testing. It is part of why I homeschooled, also because I love being with my kids! Well, the schools recieve a % of government cash for high scores. I really hate that! I also hate the pressure it puts on the kids, especially MY kid!
I showed up at Ravi's school today to bring him lunch; basmati rice, palak paneer and tomato dal. I wanted him to have another healthy meal today, besides school crap.
