The kids and I spent the afternoon outside today. I trimmed all of our nandina bushes into ornamentals, and swept off the deck, cleaned out the sand and water table (which Lakshmi promptly played with) and the back yard looks just beautiful!
The grass is cut short and everywhere there are beautiful blossoms. I tried very hard to give away my Webber grill, which is in perfect condition, but no one would take it because it seems everyone I know has a grill already. It's not one of those junky ones. It is worth over $150 USD.
So it still sits on the deck in the back yard, taking up space. I am a vegetarian, so I don't cook meat. Maybe we will make some kabobs! My dad makes the best vegetable kabobs, but he has a special pan which he puts in the grill...similar to a wok. They never touch the grill, which is important to vegetarians!

Is Child Protective Services (CPS) coming to your home?
I have been reading about some nightmarish stories on the bulletin board I post on. Apparently the most gentle, child loving families are at risk for losing their children to CPS.
Story after story of families who were doing a good job of taking care of their kids were targeted for various things such as low income, homeschooling, single parents, small house, untidy home, dirty dishes in kitchen sink...all illegal reasons to start an investigation.
Our parental rights are being questioned when CPS and police come to any parents home just on the basis of the above. And a call about a child with a rash, dirty clothes, and more and you can find CPS knocking at YOUR door.
Finally there is a parent who fought back. 911 recieved a call about this womans children, saying their living conditions were questionable, one child had a black eye, and another had a rash (mother was saying it was impegio and she was putting neosporin on it). For these reasons above, CPS and police were dispatched to this door. Little did they know who they were dealing with. This mom began a campaign of letter writting and lawsuits that eventually changed the system in her state of Florida.
Do you have any risk factors that would cause CPS to knock at your door?
DCF Watch is a watch group and legal aid assistant to families who are dealing with harrassment from CPS, who have lost their children to CPS and those who are trying to legally establish their right to parent, right to medical records, and right to defend themselves and protect their children.
Take the 3-5 hours to read this website, for the protection of your children and to know just what to do when is an uninvited state worker outside of your door.
When did it become the states job to harrass families who homeschool, have low income, and have dirty kitchens?
