Well, there are times in parenting when I call on the wisdom of my parents and ancestors.
I put Lakshmi and Priya to bed this afternoon for a nap, and promised them that if they napped, we would play outside.
After a short time, I tried to open the door to see what was going on (often they play and run around the room). The door wouldn't open! I tried again, and for sure it wouldn't. By then, I told the girls if they don't open the door, they will be in the room for the rest of the day. (I did try to open it with a hair pin, but it wouldn't do the job).
Suddenly, the girls are trying so hard to get the door open. I just went and sat next to the computer and tried to ignore the drama going on right next to the computer room.
After about 10 minutes, a very freaked out Lakshmi finally got the door open, and came to me.
I don't think she will do that again. And not only that, but I didn't let them play.
I have the hardest time parenting like this, but natual consequences are the most affective type of parenting I have ever tried.
Anyway, I contemplated turning the look around, but then worried the girls would lock me in the room!!!! So I just tightened up the screws!
