Ravi can swim!!! It all pulled together this afternoon! He also swims backwards and swims under-water, and very close to diving. One of the families whose kids learned this week, invited us to swim with them in their pool. I think their daughter, Ravi's age would have gone home with us! It was a really fun week and all the families bonded!
We were the only Indian family (all but me! LOL), but there was a Palestinian family, and three African American families and two Caucasian families. It was great watching all the kids swimming together. Our city is multi-ethnic, but mostly African American and Caucasian.
The instructor and her sons have taught for many many years!
I am so happy that my Ravi can swim, and that Lakshmi and Priya are very close.

Swimming again
My kids were diving today! They can't swim fully yet, but the instructor is trying to get them used to the water so they really have a good time.
The kids lined up on the sides of the pool in the deep end, and the instuctors had each one kneel on the edge of the pool. With a few minutes of coaching, getting arms, head and body in the right position, each kid had a chance to dive into the pool in the knealing position. Next time around, they stood and again with help to get the body, legs and arms into alignment, each child learned to dive.
Lakshmi and Priya both did well, but didn't watn to go arms and head first...thus not getting their heads wet. Ravi DID IT! Ravi is swimming frontwards and backwards now, swimming under water and still struggling to put his face into the water to swim (and breathe!).
The instructor has been taking each of the little ones out on the bell bar, and asked the girls to hold the bar, while touching the belly button with the opposite hand, and vice visa. It is amazing, how they teach the kids. I really hope to fine the money to send them one more time this summer.
Tomarrow (Friday) is the last day. I am very anxious to see how each child does. I promised the kids that I would get a Y membership if they learned as MUCH as they could, and even better if they learned to swim. I believe that Ravi and Priya will swim by the end of the summer, and Lakshmi may learn by next year. However, Lakshmi payed very close attention today, to the instructor, just like I asked her to yesterday, and so she got alot out of her swimming today.
By the time Ravi was diving 5 times, he just got scared, that he would go to the bottom. I told him he wouldn't with a floatation thing on (on his back) but he decided he would sit out for a while.
