What a day we had! It snowed here and wow, did it ever accumulate! We've had 5 inches, and it is still snowing, at near midnight. We haven't had snow like this in years, and then again, it usually turns to ice, as it melts then it is gone the next day. We do have ice on the streets, but the grass and cars, houses and driveways are all filled with wonderful lucious white stuff.
The kids had a great time playing outside during the earlier part of the day, before we had lot of accumulation, but their hats and gloves got really wet, so we came back in. Sadly, Ravi and Lakshmi's dad insisted on picking them up in the mess, he didn't have enough sence to keep them off the streets.
Priya and I stayed inside for the rest of the evening, and I just went outside to check the snowfall, and it is deep out there.
Earlier, I took my largest mixing bowl outside and scooped up a big bowl of snow to make snow-ice cream.
I mixed one large bowl of snow with:
two dashes of vanilla
several hard shakes of sugar
several big splashes of milk
We mixed it up and had the very best snowcream!
My best friends mother did this for us when we were kids. I lived within walking distance, and as soon as the snow would begin to fall, I would walk over the the Culley's house for some very chilly icecream, au natural.
There are lots of recipes on the internet for Snow Cream.
Find one you like, and stick with it. I also suggest that if you have any leftovers, to put it in the freezer and keep till the next day. IT FREEZES WELL! : )
