As an AP parent, I hate to....

I hate to put baby "locks" on the doors, and use a harness on Priya. Sadly I had to move Priya into Ravi's room yesterday, and move Ravi into my room. All that is in that great big room is a tiny toddlers bed and a tiny 4 year old...Priya. At night time she keeps Lakshmi awake, and in the morning she wakes Lakshmi back up again. They go through the house doing this and that, the whole time I am sleeping. They had eaten pancakes from the night before, candy from the Easter basket. Everyone says I have the world of patience, but I don't feel it. Yesterday afternoon I lost it. I moved Ravi's bed into my room (and had to move some things out of my room to do that). I moved Priya's bed from my room into Ravi's room.

This morning, the girls woke up again and jumped all over the room, opening the blinds and finally leaving their rooms. Today Priya cut Lakshmi's hair again! They both ate the candy (which was on a high shelf). It just never stops. I am worn out with it. So I broke the AP cardinal rules of treating children with respect and I bought door locks (the kind that covers the door handle and you have to squeeze just right) and a harness for Priya when we go shopping.

I tried it on Priya tonight just to see how it works and she was crying hysterically. Great! I feel awful!

Well, we will see how tomarrow morning goes. If Priya finds her way out of the room again, I will just cry!

Dangerous gusts of wind last night

The kids and I were in the center of our house last night between 3am and 5:30am. The kids slept, since they are used to this...we got alot of wind and rotating storms. I however was scared last night. Normally I am not, but I took a chance and peeked outside between lightening strikes and gusts of wind, and you couldn't see out there. There was so much rain wirling around and the trees almost touched the ground. I was really glad that the kids slept because I would have to have scared the kids by my fear. Normally that is not what I do, but I was terrified last night.

I have worked so hard since having kids, to have a laise fair attitude about the storms we have. I grew up with a wonderful beautiful mom who had been terrorized by her family about tornado's. I still have very strong visions of my mom screaming and hyperventalating when we had tornadic weather. She used to get us up in the middle of the night screaming. She was really scared. So as a parent, I have had to dilute some of my own fears about storms in order to keep from passing that on to my children. I was so happy last night that the kids were sleeping in the hallway on the floor during that horrible storm. It is an indication of how I have changed. After all, kids do what their parents do, mostly. The winds continued today, and it is still possible that we will end up in the hallway.

Spring has arrived!
