Hard to believe that my little Priya gave up her crib yesterday!
It all started with her sleeping with me the night before, in a nice little cuddle. When she got up, she didn't NEED her crib anymore. Then last night she feel asleep in my arms again.
I don't know what to think about it. She is 4 1/2 years old, and I honestly thought she would keep sleeping in it until she went away to college, or got married. I thought we would have to make a larger crib, for her husband!!
All three kids gave it one last "test" and Priya and I said goodbye to it using a made up ceremony with Priya being the bell ringer and I lit the candle. I made up a warm and fuzzy little song that said essentially, "Thank you my crib, for keeping me safe, all through the night, and into the day". We sang it several times, including other made up verses, and moved the crib to the other room. There I set it up again, and this time at the highest level. Priya was surprised to see it that high, and asked why it was like that. I told her that was the level that tiny babies slept at.
Later I asked Priya, "what should we do with your crib?". She told me, "give it to someone with a tiny baby!". Lakshmi interjected, "send it to India!". lol! Afterall, my kids do think that babies come from India.
