Attachment Disorder Link

Attach-China.org : Website all about attachment disorder, not just for families who have adopted from China, but from everywhere. Has list of symptoms.

Attachment disorder can occur in both adopted children and biological children. Sometimes, children who have experienced trauma through relinquishment from the birth parent, tragedy like a car accident can get it started, or a traumatic surgery, where a child has pain for a long time without relief.

Also, some children come out of abusive homes, or neglectful homes, or both. Children of alcoholics, drug addicts, any situation where the first year of care was interrupted frequently by trauma, this is a child who has the potential of developing attachment disorder.

If your child has any of the symptoms on the list (at attach-china.org) then cross check the symptoms with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, and bi-polar disorder to see if your child may have another set of symptoms. Also, children who have PTSD and SID are at risk of attachment disorder. If the child has these symptoms, get help immediately.

Attachment Therapist

I have been looking for someone to come to our home and help Priya and Ravi who knows about attachment therapy...for 3 years!

I had heard about a man by the name of Dr. W. Bruenning. Well, I spoke with him on the phone last night.

He comes to the home for two or three days, observes parenting, observes the child, observes any bonding that has taken place.

Then he has the parents try different parenting styles with the child to see what works best with the child.

Also, there is a ton of training that takes place the first morning.
He trains the parent about what the child has experienced from the time they were born, until they arrived in their adoptive parents home.

His fee's are enormous. At least to a person like me, who knows how USD translates to IR (Indian Rupees).

He charges $1400 per day, and with two kids recommends two days. Then the flight $300, hotel $200, rental car and then per diem charges around $50 per day. That stacks up to to alot of cash!
