I don't have anything in the ground yet, but that should be just around the corner. I don't know what will grow, and what will shrivel up and die, but I always have hope that my plants will grow well. Today I had to thin my broccoli sprouts, and it was too hard for me to do, so my friend Rosemary was as my house today and she did the thinning for me. I can't believe how attached I have become to my plants. I call them "my babies". Priya wants to know why I'm calling them "my babies" when I'm only going to eat them. Lakshmi has a good sense of humor and she hollared, "run babies, run!". LOL At this point, I have baby lettuce, broccoli and sunflower sprouts. Outside in my pots, I have some cilantro and mint which has come back since last year. I plan to start tomatoes in a week or two. My friend Rosemary has already got her tomatoes started, and I hope I'm not too late. I guess if I am, I'll have to buy some starts and plant them. My goal will be tomatoes, broccoli, eggplant, various lettuces, cucumbers, peas, bell peppers, yellow squash, carrots, cantaloupe and some type of vining bean. My dad loves okra, so I may throw in some okra for him. A quarter of the backyard will be devoted to vegetable gardening. I do plan to plant some flowers too, because the garden should be beautiful and useful. I can't wait to see what my harvest looks like, once it is harvested that is. I still have 126 jars for canning food. Preferably, all of it will be tomatoes, jams and jellies. We sure eat alot of that around here!!!

How beautiful! Both the plants and your daughter. You are way more organized than me. I've decided to buy tomato, pepper and eggplant plants this year.
Thank you for your compliments.
What has got me interested in growing my own plant starts this year is the economy. I so wish I was organized. : ) What has gotten me motivated is Sharon Astyk's blog. I don't want to be caught with my plants down, so to speak. I hope to have a beautiful garden, which feeds my family. Sounds like you have an Italian garden in the works. I know I could make some great Italian food from tomatoes, eggplant and peppers. YUM!
