The Perverse Pop Culture of Barbie; invading the home of a natural mama

This Christmas holiday, Barbie and her fancy accessories invaded my home. No, I didn't do it. The "family" supplied my beautiful natural lov'n daughters with their first Barbie's. I guess I have done alright, since we have made it all the way to age 7, without the interference of pop culture. Barbie is designed for the 5 year old in mind!

Now how many 5 year old girls do you know that have D cup breast, an hour glass waist and long bleach blond hair?
Okay, I have to hand it to my "family". The Barbies have golden brown skin, matching almost to my beautiful Indian girls.

I have always prided myself in providing my children with natural toys, hand made, and eco-safe. So where did I go wrong? Should I have allowed the Barbies to stay? Am I allowing my children to be perversed by something that I don't believe in? Will they still be who they are, strong, smart, kind and beautiful...when they are teenagers and adults? I guess like any parenting decision, this one still leaves me wondering.

When my daughters were sound asleep tonight, I walked around the house, making sure everything was put away. I came across a Barbie, with knee high boots, with a 4 inch heel, hair brushed back and lovely, and make up just right. Around the Barbie layed all the accessories (things I will never have) and one Barbie; butt naked!

With all of those accessories, why is the Barbie laying on the ground with no clothing on at all? Is it possible that my daughters still cling to their inner confidence from yester year, where they ran through the house without a thread of clothing on, and not even a cloth diaper?
One can only hope!
