X had auto accident

Yesterday at 5:00pm, I got a call from my attorney who told me she just received a fax from x's attorney:
"Chandra was involved in an auto accident and will not be coming for mediation on Thursday". (We are due for mediation again because of many problems with the kids. I was in shock. I didn't get any more info than that, but the thought crossed my mind that Ravi had been with him only 2 days before his auto accident, and Ravi could have been involved if it was only two days earlier. (Thank you god/goddess for the protection of Ravi!).

From several different people, I learned that Chandra was taken to the Regional Med Center, which is a trauma center. You go there when you have life threatening problems like auto accidents, gun shot wounds, massive heart attack, but not for much else, since this is the place where those who have no insurance go when they need care.

My old next door neighbor told me on the phone that the car was totalled, and that Chandra broke ribs and had a liver laceration.

As a matter of fact, Ravi and I have been trying to reach Chandra since Wednesday, and I was surprised that I didn't get one snide phone call from him, and assumed that he was doing the freeze out thing, which doesn't bother me.

After making probably 20 calls (the kids were very worried) I reached Chandra. He was rude with me, and grumbled that he didn't call me because he didn't believe I would call him back. Well, unless he is married again, I should be the first person called, since we have kids together, and if he is married, she should call me first after she talks to him. He spent 6 days in the hospital. He found out he has diabetes, something which I have suggested to him more than 5 years ago. Wondering if that could cause rapid mood swings???

His liver is badly bruised and cut. He has (I think) 4 broken ribs (the ones closest to the sternum, and one of his knees hit the dash board and he was lucky it wasn't broken, but it was badly bruised with tons of skin just shredded off of it, and it was all blackened.

Apparently he had a seat belt on, so he had a red strap mark across his chest, and from the looks of the car, this is exactly what kept him from being killed, and also what probably broke his ribs, plus he hit his dashboard and it broke in several places, including where his fist hit the dash. He should be dead, or have severe head trauma. Perhaps his gig wasn't up yet. I pray he has a rapid recovery, and becomes a wonderful father overnight. Sometimes people are scared silly by stuff like this. Anyway, we visited him today, took the kids cards, and then drove him to the pharmacy to get his pain killers and liver meds. I asked him where his friends were, and he told me they were all busy. Well, if I had a car accident like that, I hope mine would show up to help.

Just in case you were curious, I have photos....of the car. I bought this car brand new in 1990, my first new car. I was so proud. This car is one of those things that that takes a licking, and keeps on ticking. In fact, I would go as far to say that it may have HAD 9 lives, like a cat! I rolled it in 1991, and a woman slammed into the left side of it when I was in massage therapy school, and had I had collision on it, it would have been totalled. Chandra totalled his Honda in 2004, and I gave him the Geo to drive. I was driving the Volvo wagon at the time. So this is the second car he has totalled, that I know of!

Wish I had a photo online, of it when I first got it! It was a pretty bright candy apple red. Here it is now, after being totalled 16 years later!
