We are in our beautiful house. I can't tell you how precious it was to drive up with the key in my hand and walk up the steps to my front door. I was emotional, but when I put my right foot on the first step, I cried so hard. I got down on my hands and knees and thanked god that the kids and I finally have a permanent home. I was overwelmed with pure emotion. I went inside the house, carried the milk gallon and a package of M&M's and the pan to boil the milk. Some friends were there to help move our beds and sofa into the house, and I had to hold them back and explain how it is Hindu tradition to boil milk before moving. I actually cleaned first, then boiled the milk over. Then we offered the milk to Ganesha and Lakshmi, then drank the rest. So within a matter of 20 minutes, we had entered the house, cleaned and boiled milk AND had our first puja...a house warming hindu style. I was breathless. I keep pinching myself. I LOVE working on projects, and one thing about them is that they finish and I move on to the next thing. It was hard to believe that all the offers, loans and such were in order, and that all we needed to do was move in!
The house and grounds are so beautiful, and the previous owner had everything to do with it. She eludes beautiful and graciousness, and when they left the house, the flowers hung low, the trees looked dry and the whole house looked different. But now, only a few days later, things are looking good again.
We moved in our beds and sofa, and basic things for kitchen and bath, and then it was so late that we fell fast asleep around 11pm. I so enjoyed watching the kids fall asleep in their new/older house for the first time. They seemed to relax right into the house, and now, more than a week later (we moved last Monday) life is just wonderful.
I am however going to have to work off my tush to afford living here. On Thursday morning, I got a call from the chiropractor asking if I could stand in for her massage therapist. I was delighted to do so, and walked away with a fat check! I want to do that again!!
I had the electric set up two weeks before move in. IN Memphis, when you set up the electric, that is it. But apparently here, you must set up the water and gas too. We had some problems the next day due to that, but nothing major.
This weekend the kids played out on our drive way, and near the fish pond. I have some photo's from that and will post later.
Thanks for all your support over the last several weeks. I can't believe it! I am still pinching myself!

This is just wonderful news, Jyotsna! It sounded like you had a wonderful puja and emotional coming home. I love the photos, thank you for sharing. It's got a very comfortable feeling, as a home should be.
