Wool Soaker...(knitting myself silly)

Wool Soaker

I just finished knitting a wool soaker, infant size. It is a beautiful crimson red wool yarn.
I will put a photo of it up here as soon as I have one. I designed it myself! Currently amoung the natural knitting mama's out there, there is a trend to knit wook soakers for their babies, and also for sale. I knitted them for Lakshmi the last year she was in diapers, and I loved them. I designed 2 different soakers...on being a flat soaker wrap, the other being a flat soaker pant.

So many mama's have developed soakers, so this is nothing new. Especially if you are into fiber arts like I am. Last year I developed a flat soaker with buttons, and before I knew it all the knitting mamas had it on their website...selling it! I will never sell in bulk like that, and I am not that worried about it. However, I love certain fibers, wool being the one I love the most...so I will definately keep this up, either to sell, or to give to friends who have new babies. I like to encourage cloth diapering, and these cool soakers do it!

Currently on my needles:
Multi-coloured taffeta ribbon yarn purse (for Ravi's friend who is having a birthday this week).
Blue Sapphire wool soaker to sell.
White cotton smock for Lakshmi.

I got through this twice a year...my craving for knitting items. Sometimes I just think up something to knit so I can knit. It is my Zen way of calming and focusing when everything around me is out of balance. It's sort of like breastfeeding. You can sit down in a crowded building where every kid is jumping around, adults are talking about political issue or whatever and when you start nursing your baby, you create this private little retreat, where nothing can penetrate the calmness that prevails. Knitting is just like that, but not as good for the baby! lol!

Check back to see what goodies I am making. And if you want a wool soaker, let me know. Currently I am selling them for $30.00. ($35.00 for toddler size).
