Hoping This Isn't a Trend

I'm thinking back to the days when I hung out with my girlfriends, back in highschool. One of the girls had a nice car, and we always rode with her.

I remember one time when we were speeding down the street and I saw the light
change, and she pressed the accelerator. She was so determined looking that
she actually scared me. I had been fairly warned, if I wrecked my car, I'd
lose my license. Because my license was my way out of the house, and kept
me in touch with my friends, I was fairly strict about those riding in my
car, and what I did when I was in my car (or sometimes my parents car).

Fortunately, my parents trusted me enough to let me leave the house on Saturday
night. Unfortunately, I had probably assured them that I would be having a sleep
over, which involved movies and popcorn at home, then a pillow fight. Ha.

We drove everywhere. Sometimes we had absolutely nowhere to go.
However, when my friend ran the redlight on purpose, I got a wake up call
that riding with her was not safe. She got lucky in that she never had a serious
accident.

I haven't talked to her in years. Like maybe 15 years. But when I walked into the living room this morning and saw this, I thought of her.
