Happy Holiday Blog Challenge

Happy Holidays. You hear it every time you turn on the radio or television. What really is a happy holiday? Is it a phrase that has turned towards redundancy? Is it a word that eludes to a euphoric feeling during the month of December?

In my family, Happy Holidays is a phrase that expresses how we hope you feel, during YOUR holiday, no matter which one you share with your family, or our family. And whenever I use that phrase, I try my best not to sound cliche.

I really believe that there are three essential ways to have a happy holiday. I don't think my ways are the ONLY ways, but in my view, the type of happy holiday you find on television, or the type you can buy from the store, is not at all what I am talking about. I'm talking about sharing a cup of tea and a peice of double fudge brownie with your best friend, or having a meal with your family members, with the family you only see a few times a year, and the happiness that we are able to find inside ourselves when we know that this moment, this day and this time is safe, secure and comfortable.

I'd love to know what makes a happy holiday for you.

Here are my favorite three:

1. Knowing my children have everything they really need.
2. Resolving any bitterness that may be there, amoung friends and family.
3. Knowing that a certain someone loves me and loves me for who I am.

If you have three favorite ways of knowing you are having a happy holiday, please post them to your blog and let me know. I'll blogroll you, and point out your post on my blog.

Love,
Jyotsna
