Your Help Is Needed (for two small kids in India)

Your help is needed! This is an urgent situation and I am working to spread this letter around. This letter was written by my friend Beth, who works for Special Additions, India program. She places Indian children with families. Families must be or become paper ready (homestudy, dossier ect). Beth will help you through this process if you decide you want to adopt either child, and if you qualify. Please take this post very seriously, and think about how you could help these two children find their Forever Families.

This email was sent to the major adoption list serve today, the list that was most instrumental in bringing home my adopted kids from India. Ravi was a waiting child and I learned about him on this list, and many families have also found their forever families through this list. Ravi was a waiting child. This is a letter about two children, Prasad (M) and Ragini (F) who need families immediately. If you are interested in adopting either child, please contact Beth (number listed below) for more information.

I hope they find adoptive homes, one way or another. While it would be ideal if they find a family in India, so they could be raised knowing their culture, this may not happen. So the other possiblity at this point is to place them internationally for adoption, so that they may have a mother and father (perhaps a single mom too?) and they can grow up in a loving environment where their family adores them. I don't think they are siblings, so adopting these two together is not necessary.

Thank you for reading the below message from my friend Beth.
Jyotsna

Dear (Adoptive) Families,
I have quite a number of children waiting for families. Some have
waited longer than others.
Two children who have waited a long time are Prasad and Ragini. Both
of them live at a children's home in Mumbai India. I spoke with the
director this morning and she asked (as she often does) if I have made
any progress in finding families for the children who wait. She asked
in particular if I might have found families for Ragini or Prasad. I
assured her that I was doing my best. She then told me that their
children's home is only licensed to care for children up to 7 years of
age. That means that Ragini must leave the children's home this coming
December and Prasad a few months later. The children's home has no
alternative but to begin the process of moving them to a government
orphanage!
Life at a Govt Orphanage is very different from the life these two
have known since birth. And once transferred, they will have no chance
of being adopted. I've know them both since they were babies, and I
feel tremendous obligation to do everything possible to find a family
for them.
I am sending out this email with the fervent hope and request that you
will help me get the word out on these two beautiful children. Please
spread the word and let us find these two children their forever families.
Here is their basic info, and if you'd like to see their files and
photos, please let me know.
RAGINI
Ragini is 6 years old. She was born December 31st, 1999. Ragini is
considered to be healthy, and is developing age appropriately. She is
fun loving and considered to be intelligent. She enjoys playing with
the other children and is age appropriate in her development.
A visiting adoptive mother recently observed:
Ragini, like Shilpa, seems intellectually, emotionally, and physically
appropriately developed. She teases a lot with Shilpa, and sometimes
the girls get into an argument, hug, and make up again. A very active,
affectionate, and bright child. Ragini misses Shilpa a great deal and
wants a family of her own.
Note: Urgent…Ragini must be placed before she turns 7 years old, or
she will go to a Government home. (Mumbai)
PRASAD
Prasad is growing up! He is a handsome young boy with big dark eyes.
Prasad is 6 years old and was born on February 1, 2000. Prasad is a
friendly and happy child, and plays well with the other children.
Prasad is very curious and loves to interact with others. He is
considered to be meeting his developmental milestones. Prasad had
tested Hep B positive, but is now testing negative.
A visiting adoptive mother recently observed:
Prasad is an lively child, I saw him enter the children's home after
his school. He appears to be open, playful and quite charming. His
friends are Shilpa and Ragini who attend school as well. Development
seems in sync with age. He misses his friend Shilpa and wishes for a
family of his own.
Note: Urgent…Prasad must be placed before he turns 7 years old, or he
will go to a Government home. (Mumbai)
There is virtually no time left to find families and begin the
adoption process, before the process must be started to move these
children to a Government home.
ICHILD has (as a group) managed to pull together before, and I'm
asking for your help. Please help me to get the word out on these two
beautiful children.......
Warmly,
Beth
