All three of my children spend their days at our local public school.
It is a school chosen due to our zip code, but also a great school in many ways.
I handed in my resume at the school to be considered for one of three jobs.
As I was waiting in the halls after school, I ran into Ravi's last year teacher.
She has TWO autistic children in her class room, and she is looking for a
full time person to assist these two kids in a typical classroom.
She wants me to take the job, and so we will just wait and see if I get it.
I was a part-time volunteer in her classroom last year, in order to see how
Ravi was doing. She apparently liked me alot, and felt my work was good.
I really enjoyed working in her room, and if I get this job, I will find myself
being very challenged. I haven't worked with autistic children before,
except for one little boy last year in her class. But is was on a purely
volunteer basis. I am thrilled that I may be working at the school.
The other two jobs that are available are both the same. The school
needs two employees to work as education resource assistants.
Both jobs would require the employee to work part time (4 hours) and
do basic assistance to a few teachers. I have been doing this voluntary
both last year and this year, and it requires the employee to grade tests,
file paperwork in the class room, prepare homework folders, tear out
print outs and assemble and organize these for classes, and many other things.
I know I can do that. Tonight I have been researching autistic children,
and I plan to get in touch with a local group to learn more about the children.
I really hope I get this job. I need to be working until I move!
Of course the plus will be seeing my children throughout the day.
Priya's Reading!!
Priya has been reading a few words here and there this summer, and reading along
with the Quantum Pad books this summer too. I felt that she was on the edge of reading
all summer, but I didn't want to just push her into reading. She has taught herself completely!
With Ravi, I was so thrilled he was showing readiness signs of reading, that I kept trying to get
him to read. He did and then due to my pushing, he stopped! Priya on the other hand is so
excited about reading that she took it on her own self to learn.
Currently she is reading the Dick and Jane anthology. She keeps pushing heself every day.
I got this picture of Priya reading in the hallway at home; a place where she reads after school!
Priya Reading
I will post it shortly!
